Pro-Act Announces New Component of Their Waste Treatment System

Warren, RI, January 14, 2008 --- As an innovator in the animal agricultural waste treatment industry, Pro-Act Microbial has long touted the benefits of using manure separators in conjunction with their treatment systems.  The separators and the microbial treatment system, when working together, enhance each other’s benefits and create an even more efficient means of manure management.  And now manure separation has become a standard component of the Pro-Act Microbial system of manure management with the introduction of the Pro-Act separator.

The Pro-Act manure separator, produced by the Vincent Corporation of Florida, is a screw press that divides the animal waste into two streams:  the manure slurry and the solids.  It is designed to work on many farm types:  dairy or hog, flush or scrape barns.  In flush barns, Pro-Act's microbial mix has already gone to work reducing the odor and viscosity of the water and solids before the manure slurry reaches the separator.  This makes the separator work more efficiently and puts less wear and tear on the equipment.  With scrape barns, the manure is thicker.  Separating the solids out of the manure stream results in a lagoon or storage tank that is less stressed and provides an environment for Pro-Act’s treatment to work even better.

Having the Pro-Act separator as part of their manure treatment system also helps farms take full advantage of the superior fertilizer quality of their treated manure.  Solids separation is an excellent way to extract the nutrient-rich solids for use in other applications such as fertilizer or composting.  The fertilizer value of Pro-Act treated manure is much better than untreated, and using the separator enhances that benefit.

“With the addition of Pro-Act’s separator, we have come full circle with green technology that is farmer-friendly, cost effective, has proven effectiveness and addresses all of the manure management issues of today's farmer and tomorrow's greener earth,” says Bill Campion, president of Pro-Act Microbial.
