World Ag Expo
Attendees Interested in Sustainable Agricultural Systems
Warren, RI,
February 15, 2008 --- With more than 100,000 attendees from more
than 67 countries, the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California is a true
meeting place for the agricultural industry. With the increased
discussion of biofuels in the media, a more environmentally savvy
public and tightening governmental regulations, dairy farmers were
spending more time seeking out options to meet today’s demands and
opportunities. Because of this, Pro-Act’s biotech systems were a hot
item at this year’s expo.
Pro-Act was part of a bigger draw overall for the dairy industry at
this year’s expo. Approximately 130 additional dairy exhibits were
included with the addition of the new Dairy Technology Center. The
expansion comes in response to long time demand from exhibitors and
attendees for more exhibit space related to dairy production.
Pro-Act teamed up with Slurrystore at their booth to support
NextStep™, their manure technology that combines Pro-Act’s manure
treatment with Slurrystore tanks. A small-scale model of the
processing tank was on display so attendees could better understand
the environmentally-friendly system that can also help farmers
profit from biogas.
“At these shows I’ve always had conversations with farmers about
their problems with odor, nutrient management regulations,
unmanageable solids,” explains Bill Campion, president of Pro-Act.
“We’re still helping with those key problems, but farmers are now
also asking how they can profit from biogas and keep their
communities happy by runner a greener operation. Our system has been
the answer to dairymen’s concerns for years, even before others were
getting serious about environmental issues. Now the market is
catching up to us.”
Also on display was on the new Pro-Act Separator, which provides an
even more efficient means of manure management as integral part of
Pro-Act’s systems.
“With our exhibit space, we were able to show the hardware and the
science behind our environmental systems,” noted Dale Butcher,
Pro-Act’s sales manager. “There was a lot of interest in green
technology this year, and people were impressed that we’ve been
pursuing that technology for years. Our manure treatment systems
have been in use on farms across the country for more than five
years. It shows we’re not just jumping on the band wagon, but have
commitment and proven technology.”
Also highly sought after was information on Pro-Act’s biogas
digester. Members of the media were especially interested in
Pro-Act’s digester for small farms, an innovation for which the
market is hungry as this technology has mostly been geared toward
large scale operations.
As a result of this year’s show, many possible new users have signed
on. Some are interested in the NextStep’s advanced manure treatment.
Many are starting with Pro-Act’s core treatment system to reduce
odor and solids while increasing the fertilizer value of their
manure and top water so much that they will be buying a lot less
chemical fertilizer. As their needs change in the future, Pro-Act
can help them further benefit from their manure treatment system by
creating the biogas digester and/or the NextStep.
